Is It Really MY Favorite Coffee? A Review of My Favorite Coffee by Smosh

Disclaimer: Though I do love Smosh with my heart, I went into this coffee review unbiased and genuinely wanted to review the coffee flavor for itself.
As a die-hard fan of the sketch comedy YouTube channel, SMOSH, when I heard they were coming out with a coffee brand, I was excited! My favorite YouTube channel of all time and coffee? Sign me up! Ian Hecox, the co-founder of Smosh, and his colleagues dropped two flavors, The Fave and The Brave, in a cold brew and blend as well as mugs. Each blend has the option to be purchased as whole beans or grounds.
The Fave (which is the one I purchased) is quoted as, “the perfect way to enter into the world of specialty coffee or for the coffee aficionado who prefers earthy sweet brews with a smooth finish. Roasted to perfection freshly in small batches. Great for any preparation method but if you want our recommendation, try it with a french press” (My Favorite Coffee Official Website). As the package states, the coffee has hints of nuts and chocolate. It is a dark roast but, “not burnt”.
The Brave on the other hand is described as, Daring, different, delicious. The Brave shows off what specialty coffee handled the right way can be. If you're ready to take your coffee game to the next level, or love what lightly roasted coffee handled by professionals can be, you might be ready to take the step on this coffee. The Brave blend doesn't taste like coffee that has had its real flavor burned off, sat on shelves for months, or comes out of a tiny little plastic cup. Roasted to perfection freshly in small batches. Great for any preparation method. If you want our recommendation, try it with a pour over”. It is a fruity, light roasted blend.
Looking at the two flavors, The Fave seemed the most up my alley. When the package arrived, I already had high expectations. The scent was already jumping out of the box and it smelled delicious. It reminded me of walking into a coffee house in San Francisco on a foggy morning. When I opened the package, the sticker and signed coffee bag made my inner fan girl smile (The first 500 orders got signed copies I may add).
The next morning I put the coffee grounds into my steeper and waited to find out if this was a hit or a miss. I can say that the smell of the coffee is one of my favorites. If you are sensitive to scents then this might be a bit powerful for you. My first initial sip of the coffee was very pleasing. I could taste the nutty-chocolate and instantly felt a warmth. I wanted to add a small amount of french vanilla cream to the coffee to make it more of my taste. I put in the tiniest bit of cream so I still had the original flavor. It was so delicious! It had the perfect taste of everything I like!
In an unbiased opinion, I can say this is one of the best coffees I have ever had. In a biased opinion, I can say this is the best coffee I have ever had. Smosh’s coffee has had a successful start to what may be the best (and only one started by an internet personality as far as I am aware of) coffee brand.
